Sin City — PAX East isn’t the only show in town. This past weekend, thousands converged on the Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas for IPL 4, a professional video gaming tournament put on by IGN Entertainment that lasted from April 6 – 8, 2012. The result was a massive success! The best League of Legends and Starcraft 2 players were fighting for $150,000 in cash prizes. To fend off eye fatigue, GUNNAR equipped a number of pro players, shoutcasters, and event staff with full protection eyewear, including Team Solomid, a professional group of summoners that went on to claim the championship for League of Legends. Check out the news story on Team Solomid.
On the Starcraft 2 front, we’re proud to report that aLive took home the $40,000 championship, having defeated a number of the best Korean Protoss, Terran, and Zerg players for our friends at Team Fnatic!
On a weekend where staring at screens was basically 100% of what I did I felt like the GUNNARS genuinely did reduce the strain I felt on my eyes by quite a bit. I could see myself wearing them a lot in the future. – Erik “Doa” Lonnquist
GUNNAR was also proud to support a number of social media, live streaming, and pro player activities including contests, giveaways and more. Pro players from Starcraft 2 and League of Legends even faced off against fans for the chance to win GUNNARS. And the response was phenomenal. Erik “Doa” Lonnquist, a professional commentator currently working for IGN had this to say about the GUNNARs: “Honestly I went into trying out GUNNARS with a lot of doubts, but they ended up working great! On a weekend where staring at screens was basically 100% of what I did I felt like the GUNNARS genuinely did reduce the strain I felt on my eyes by quite a bit. I could see myself wearing them a lot in the future.” Even the Starcraft 2 community was impressed. Alex “HDStarcraft” was wearing the GUNNARS for most of his screen time, and reported that he was shocked at how much of a difference GUNNARS made during his shifts on stage. He had significantly less eye strain. Finally, James “TheRedBaron” Reilman, a League of Legends caster, is actually considering becoming a full time GUNNAR ambassador!
Putting them on, you just feel like a badass; you’re making a statement when you put the GUNNARS on, not just wearing a pair of glasses. -TheRedBaron
