On the Pro Circuit: GUNNAR Defeats Eye Fatigue at MLG Columbus 2012 Winter Championships
eSports Professionals turn to performance eyewear
While debates about the eSports movement and modern entertainment carry on, MLG Columbus was a huge success, not only for GUNNAR, but for the gaming community as a whole. Even the best professional gamers are no strangers to digital eye fatigue. Fortunately, competitors, guests, and VIP attendees alike at the 2012 Winter Championships in Columbus, Ohio were given a strategic advantage with special access to some of GUNNAR’S most advanced gaming eyewear on the market. The GUNNAR team was on hand at the Columbus Convention Center to support eSports partners Team EG, Team SK-Gaming, and Team Fnatic, but also to scout other pros, extend special invitations to the GUNNAR VIP program, and to showcase the MLG Phantoms and the MLG Legends. Throughout the event, n8corn and Of1nfluence challenged participants to take their vision to the next level. And the results were staggering…
Overall attendance hit record numbers for the Halo competition which saw some the most intense games in the history of MLG. Watching Team Instict take on Team Fnatic in a classic nail biter proved to be one of the most memorable moments this Winter as Halo fans erupted in standing cheers of ovation. The event also saw the premier of several fighting games including Mortal Combat and Soul Caliber, bringing a new crowd to the MLG scene. Finally, MLG’s new seasonal structure will ensure meaningful championships throughout the year which GUNNAR will continue to enhance, protect, and optimize the competitive gamers’ visual performance.
